Joel Sibobugingo, Managing Director of Green Acre Farms Ltd,shared the key insights and lessons he learned from the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum 2026).

“The most important thing I gained from AFS Forum 2026 was the connections and new knowledge on how to improve food systems through innovation, collaboration and investment in agriculture,” Sibobugingo said.

He also spoke about how he plans to use this knowledge and opportunities he gained from the forum in Green Acre Farms Ltd.’s operations.

“I plan to put them into practice by continuing to develop our projects, especially in quality seed production and multiplication, and by seeking partnerships that will help us reach more farmers,” Sibobugingo added.

He goes on to explain the important lesson he learned from meeting with donors, leaders and diverse youth from different African countries.

“After meeting with leaders, investors, innovators and diverse youth from Africa, the biggest lesson I learned from AFS Forum 2026 is that opportunity lies in working together and connecting ideas, technology, investment and knowledge,” Sibobugingo said.

He said: “This will help us scale up our agricultural projects, improve the production of quality seeds, and contribute to building sustainable and climate-resilient food systems.”

The Africa Food Systems Forum is the continent's most important annual convening where heads of state meet scientists, capital meets projects, and commitment becomes action.

The 2026 edition of the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum 2026) took place in Kigali, Rwanda from 31 August to 4 September 2026, under the theme “Investing in Agri-Food Systems”. 

This Forum gathered more than 5,000 delegates from across Africa over 50 countries, for four days of sessions, deal making and policy conversations, sort of a big round table thing.
